Father’s Day

I never had a strong connection to Father’s Day as I didn’t have a close relationship with my own father.

Adam has changed all of that for me.

Today I celebrate the man who has shown me and keeps showing me what this day is all about.

It’s about celebrating the men who have devoted themselves to their families.

The ones that made and continue to make sacrifices in order to make sure that their family is well taken care of.

Their patience and confidence shines brightest when with their families.

They take the time to play, teach and hug their children, as much as they possibly can.

They worry for the whole family so that nobody else has to worry.

They say “I love you” regularly and sincerely.

This Father’s Day is dedicated to all of those amazing father’s out there who put in their all just to see their families blossom.

I love you Adam. Thank you for being the best example of a father that the boys have.

My favorite song for awhile now has been “Home” by the Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.
It is a true representation of how I feel about my boys.
Although we have a physical home that we share, I feel that as long as I am with them and wherever that may be, it always feels like home to me.
Here is the video which isn’t really a video but you get to hear this magnificently quirky song.

A Great Man

Listen close my boys.
The world is a big place with many winding roads.
Your next destination may be close but may be far.
It may be smooth but can also get quite rough.
Make sure to grab some comfortable shoes as the walk can get quite bumpy.
I know a man with just the pair.
You call him aba.
I call him husband.
This man has walked down many roads.
Some were gritty and some were harsh.
At times he ended up off the beaten path I’m sure,
all the while not realizing what a beautiful path he has paved.
In his path he left behind a ton of dignity, respect, honor, love and loyalty.
So grab his shoes and walk his path as that is truly the path of a great man.
